HIGH-flyer Jeremy Howe expects to play predominantly up forward in 2014.
Howe, who has also pushed up in the midfield in recent times, is set to play an important role in attack under coach Paul Roos.
“Any backline should be pretty worried when you’ve got [Chris] Dawes, [Mitch] Clark and [Jesse] Hogan. They’re big boys, all quite tall and extremely heavy. I can play as a fourth medium-tall,” he told melbournefc.com.au.
“I get the pick of the fourth or fifth defender, so I think it’ll add a lot of variation.
“That’s where the majority of my footy will be played. It’ll definitely put the opposition defenders under the pump, when we get it in there.
“Don’t be surprised if I still push up into the midfield in quarters here and there, but I’m also looking forward to mastering that role up forward, which will hopefully give me a good year.”
Howe said he was eager to be part of a new look and exciting attack.
“Definitely. I really enjoy playing in the forward line and I love working with the guys down there,” he said.
“I definitely feel like I’m much more experienced in the forward line than I am in the midfield at AFL level anyway. I’m looking forward to that role and mixing it up, as well.
“The role I’ll be playing will have the best of both worlds.”
