MELBOURNE will be able to name midfielder Jack Trengove in its official round eight team on Thursday afternoon, subject to appeal.

The club is appealing Trengove’s three-match suspension, handed out by the tribunal on Tuesday night, at an appeals board hearing on Thursday night.

If Trengove’s appeal is successful, the team lodged with the AFL on Thursday will become the official Melbourne 22, plus its three emergencies, for Saturday’s clash against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.

If the appeal is unsuccessful, and a form of suspension is imposed on Trengove, Melbourne will have to submit a revised team by Friday 12pm.

From its revised team of 22, without Trengove, the incoming player must come from one of Melbourne’s three emergencies named on Thursday night.

A new emergency player will then be named, replacing the player going into the revised 22-man team.
