DAISY Pearce has been recognised for her stellar leadership, receiving the AFL Players’ Association Best Captain Award.
Pearce, who has won the award twice before, was again selected by her peers after making an outstanding return to the competition.
The 31-year-old welcomed twins, Sylvie and Roy, last year, but stepped right back into top form in 2020.
A reliable and composed contributor on the field, Pearce took on a new role off half-back, averaging 15 disposals at 69 percent efficiency.
While her on-field performance was crucial for the Demons, her off-field influence was equally as important.
With a genuine care and respect for her teammates, Pearce built on her strong relationships within the team and across the club. She embraced her passion for the game, with the group’s best interest at the core.
In her third year as captain, she led her side to their first AFL Women’s finals appearance and victory, before the season abruptly concluded due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Pearce’s efforts also earned her a selection in the AFLW All-Australian squad earlier this month, with the final team to be named at a later date.
