This week MELBOURNEfc players were ferried to all corners of the state, taking the Club to regional areas, and visiting children who very rarely get to meet their AFL heroes.

While some players enjoyed a comfortable coach ride to Gippsland or a chauffeur-driven trip to Seymour in the MELBOURNEfc Volvo, the light aircraft trips to Casterton and Swan Hill unsettled some, even the high-flying Russell Robertson.

Upon arrival, hundreds of school kids greeted players at every destination, many having worn their red and blue guernseys over their school uniforms just for the occasion.

Many players will again hit the road and air this weekend, and return to their original Clubs as part of the AFL’s Community Football Weekend.

Twelve MELBOURNEfc players will visit local football Clubs around Australia.  With no AFL games scheduled this week, the Club encourages all supporters to go and support your local grass roots team.

On Sunday our VFL affiliate side, Sandringham, will take on Williamstown at Pt. Gellibrand Oval (Morris Street, Williamstown), and to celebrate Community Football Weekend, entry is free.

The Zebras are currently sitting third on the VFL ladder, but can overtake the second-placed Williamstown with a win on Sunday.
