TENACIOUS duo Neville Jetta and Dean Kent are set to be sidelined for next Sunday’s clash against Fremantle at the MCG, after suffering injuries in Melbourne’s 32-point win over Richmond at the ‘G on Friday night.
Paul Roos said Jetta would not play due to concussion and Kent was likely to miss several weeks with a hamstring injury. The coach said about Kent: “it’s not great when you come off the ground and you’re on crutches”.
“I wouldn’t know the outcome, but hopefully it’s a hamstring that might be four to six [weeks], rather than like [North Melbourne’s Nick] Dal Santo [hamstring] injury, which is 10 to 12 [weeks],” Roos said.
In regards to Jetta, Roos said the defender was set to be rested after copping another knock.
“I didn’t see it, other than we got the message before half-time that he was getting a concussion test and he did that at half-time,” he said.
“He didn’t respond to it, so he didn’t play in the second half.
“Given the amount of times he’s had concussion, we’ll be really conservative with him. He definitely won’t play next week and we’ll assess him [during the week].
“I’m not sure when the knock was, but that’s why he came out of the game.”
