GEELONG veteran David Wojcinski has been asked to appear at the VFL tribunal on Tuesday night to answer a rough conduct charge for his bump on Casey Scorpions youngster Jack Viney.

The 18-year-old Viney, playing his first game for the Scorpions, broke his jaw in the incident. He had an operation to insert two plates in the cheekbone on Sunday.

The incident was included in the umpire's incident report from the game and, as is normal routine, the VFL looked at footage from the weekend's game. After scrutinising the incident on video the VFL informed Geelong of the charge.

Melbourne's football manager Josh Mahoney said on SEN Radio on Monday morning the Demons were happy to leave the matter in the VFL's hands.

Wojcinski was also offered an automatic one-match penalty for striking after a separate incident involving Viney and the Cats' 31-year-old triple premiership player.

Viney had impressed in his debut game while Wojcinski looked set to play his 200th AFL game this weekend.
