GEELONG ruckman Rhys Stanley will consult a specialist later this week to determine the seriousness of the foot injury he suffered against Port Adelaide on Friday night.
Cats physio Mark Young told the club website that scans showed Stanley had suffered "some damage to the ligament and the bone" and he will miss Sunday's game against Melbourne.
Defender James Kelly will also miss with a high ankle sprain that is expected to sideline him for a month. However Young said it was difficult to get an early prognosis on such injuries.
The Cats will also be without Mitch Clark for the third week in a row as he overcomes a calf injury, while Jimmy Bartel (knee) is not likely to fulfil his wish to return for Corey Enright's 300th game on Sunday.
The Cats will test ruckman Dawson Simpson's shoulder to determine whether he is available for selection.
In better news for the club, Daniel Menzel began full training with the main group as he returns from his fourth knee reconstruction.
He is a chance to be available for selection in a month as he has now overcome a hamstring injury suffered early in the season.
"It is exciting for Dan," Young said.
"He's in full training now, has been for a week, and his hamstring is fully resolved. I guess now we're just finishing off his ACL rehab.
"We need him to get plenty of football in the next month, and then he'll come into consideration."
Menzel underwent his fourth knee reconstruction in August 2013 before suffering complications in his recovery that ruled him out of the entire 2014 season.
