MELBOURNE will hold the ultimate footy party in July – the 2015 Melbourne Gala and Auction.
Demon great and club development manager Russell Robertson – who will front a live band on the night – said it was time Melbourne put on a party for its supporters.
“In July, Melbourne has decided to put on a party for its many deserving fans,” he told melbournefc.com.au.
“Supporters of a certain vintage will remember the enjoyment of the old Banquet Auction nights we used to hold in places like the old Carlton Crest in Albert Park.
“Those nights were designed to bring our fans closer to the footy club in a relaxed environment, usually accompanied by a band and a dance floor, with hundreds of auction items and players to mingle with.”
Robertson said this year’s ultimate footy party would be a great experience for all red and blue supporters.
“The 2015 Melbourne Gala and Auction will be the ultimate Footy after party, as we walk from the ‘G after the game against the Bombers to the Melbourne Olympic Park function centre,” he said.
“Gone are the tables of items, now replaced by an online bidding system that opens days before the event takes places and closes on the night.
“Our wonderful club sponsors have come to the party – pardon the pun – by putting up some amazing items, including a brand new caravan from New Age Caravans.”
Along with the live band, with Robertson on lead vocals, there will be a comedy element to the night and special behind the scenes videos of what the players get up to behind closed doors.
There will also be several surprises on a night, so this is an event not to be missed.
Oh, and don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes!
