JACK Watts says he feels comfortable switching between wing and forward and believes he is playing some of his best football in this role.
Watts, who has been one of Melbourne’s most consistent performers in the past month, said he was clear about what he needed to do.
“I really feel like I’m starting to understand what’s required up there and on the weekend I learned a lot [against the West Coast Eagles], because we came up against a pretty good outfit,” he told Dee TV.
“Personally, I’m feeling really confident and really good going into games – just playing my way and I just need to keep working on a few little things and keep my strengths going.”
Watts said he was determined to keep his form up and help his team finish the backend of the season strongly.
“We want to look at it positively. We want to look at the games that we can really have a big crack at and we just want to keep playing really strong footy,” he said.
“We think the last four or five weeks, we’ve started to forge our little brand of footy, which we really enjoy playing and that’s what it’s going to be about each week.
“We change certain little things – depending on who you’re coming up against, but the main thing is really solidifying your footy, which we’re starting to do now.
“It makes it easier on everyone – it’s easier to coach and easier to hold blokes to account, because we have a set way of playing, so we’ll be looking to do that.”
