ALEX Neal-Bullen says he couldn’t be “more comfortable” at Melbourne after an encouraging first year.

Debuting in round 11 against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium, Neal-Bullen racked up 11 games in his maiden season at the club.

Reflecting on 2015, Neal-Bullen said that his year got off to a less than ideal start after he dislocated his knee on two separate occasions during pre-season training.

“The first time was a bit of a freak accident. I clashed knees with another player and out she [the knee] went” he told Dee TV.

“The second time was a bit of a worrying one. I was out on the training track doing a bit of contested marking with the coach and went to bump a bag to lift off and my knee buckled under me.”

As a first year player, Neal-Bullen said that his injuries modified his initial expectations for the year ahead.

“You walk in here with no idea of what to expect. It’s something where walking in [as a first year player], it’s a bit daunting but looking back on it now, I was able to play 11 games and six VFL games," he said.

“With my injury run pre-season, I wasn’t expecting to get those games under my belt, especially in the AFL team.”

Neal-Bullen said that once he came back from injury, it only made his time on the field more enjoyable.

“I just went out there and played footy and enjoyed being back out there with a new bunch of blokes," he said.

“When you’re on the sidelines, you do feel a bit isolated [because] you’re not amongst it.

“I just played footy and had some fun and listened to the coaches and took on their feedback and tried to put it into practice as best I could.”

Looking ahead, Neal-Bullen said that his mind was already on 2016.

“I’ve taken a lot out of this year going forward and next pre-season, I’m excited to hit the track running and hopefully get a full pre-season under my belt and then go from there," he said.
