SATURDAY saw Melbourne go down by 43 points to Geelong at Simonds Stadium in what was a competitive, determined effort.

The curtain raiser between Casey Scorpions and Geelong provided some highlights with Liam Jurrah’s return and four goals from Jack Watts. Despite Jordan Gysberts and future Demon Jack Viney suffering broken jaws, the boys were able to lock in a 46 point win.

This is one group hug you wouldn’t want to be a part of! James Frawley and Brent Moloney lay a duel tackle.

Brent Moloney shepherds Jimmy Bartel as Cale Morton gets a run on. Morton finished the game with 20 disposals.

James Frawley repelled strongly out of defence finishing  the gane with seven rebounds.

Inspired by teammate Jeremy Howe’s high flying marks, Col Sylvia uses Tom Gillies as a step ladder.

Jack Viney made an impressive debut with the Scorpions managing 19 touches.

Despite having a positive impact on the game, Jack Viney suffered a broken jaw and has been sidelined for 4-6 weeks.

Liam Jurrah made his long awaited return to football after recovering from a wrist injury. Jurrah will be vying for selection for Friday’s match against Hawthorn.

Jack Watts and Ricky Petterd celebrate the win arm in arm.
