MELBOURNE divisional coaches Jade Rawlings (backline), Brian Royal (midfield) and Leigh Brown (forward line) give melbournefc.com.au their thoughts on how the 46 Demons are tracking so far this pre-season …   

Rohan Bail: Rohan missed 12 matches during the 2011 season and came back late in the year. He is now having a really solid pre-season and has been among the top runners in all of our testing components. - Brian Royal  

Clint Bartram: Clint has been an excellent pre-Christmas performer. He has achieved high levels in all areas, including gym, match play and conditioning work. He has shown very good spirit among the group. - Jade Rawlings

Matthew Bate: Matty has been training with the midfield group, after finishing the 2011 season strongly in the middle. He has impressed with his running and hasn’t missed a session. - Brian Royal

Jamie Bennell: Jamie has been a consistent performer. He has been very durable pre-Christmas. He has performed every session and has shown improvement in his aerobic conditioning. He has also utilised his natural strengths - his speed and ball use. - Jade Rawlings

Sam Blease: Sam is going well and improving every session. He is working hard and has really taken on board feedback to improve his game. - Leigh Brown

Mitch Clark: Since coming to Melbourne via the trade period, Mitch has fitted in really well to the club. He has trained hard and is improving and getting to know his team mates every week. - Leigh Brown

Lucas Cook: Lucas has been building into his pre-season. He is starting to look a lot stronger. Lucas had a hip operation towards the end of last season, so he’s come back from that and is now going well. - Leigh Brown

Tom Couch (rookie): Prior to getting picked up in the Rookie Draft, Tom trained with us for seven weeks. He impressed the entire coaching staff with his ability to step straight into our program and compete with AFL listed players. - Brian Royal   

Aaron Davey: Aaron has had a slow start to the pre-season, due to an operation. He is progressing well and settling back into the main group. His skills are as good as ever. - Leigh Brown

Troy Davis: Troy has made major improvements over the pre-Christmas period. He is very aggressive and is learning how to use his body very effectively. - Jade Rawlings

Lynden Dunn: Lynden has done every session. He hasn’t missed a beat and he has fitted into the new program really well. - Leigh Brown

Michael Evans (rookie): After post-season surgery, Michael has been running strongly. He has also added strength to his body. - Brian Royal
