COACH Paul Roos says “a little bit of inexperience” proved costly in Melbourne’s agonising five-point loss to North Melbourne at Blundstone Arena on Sunday.
Roos said he was frustrated by the result – simply because it was a loss – but he was pleased with his charges for the majority of the match.
“Our composure with the ball and decision-making at times [let us down],” he said post-match.
“When you’re dissecting a game at the end and it’s only five points the difference – every little thing matters.
“But overall, I thought we were really good for most of the game.”
Roos said educating and improving his players was the entire focus for the club.
“From round two to round three, we improved significantly against a high quality opposition [in North Melbourne] that has played prelim finals the past two years,” he said.
“Overall it’s a pleasing day, but when you don’t win – that’s where the frustration comes in.”
Meanwhile, Roos said he was pleased with the 90 interchange rotations per side.
“I think 90 is not bad. It’s probably the level it should stay and hopefully it stays at that level,” he said.
