SENIOR assistant coach Simon Goodwin says it’s a good thing that Melbourne has a six-day break after last round’s disappointing loss to St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.
The coach-in-waiting said it was important to bounce back quickly from the 36-point loss last Sunday and focus on Saturday afternoon’s clash against the West Coast Eagles at Domain Stadium.
“It’s a good thing to get back on the horse and play again as soon as we possibly can,” he told Melbourne TV.
“I know the guys are really disappointed with the way they played.
“To get over there and get away together as a team – and to be in an environment in six days’ time – is important for the group, so they can respond as quickly as they can.”
Goodwin said the players had moved on and reacted positively from Monday’s review of the St Kilda loss.
“It was pretty honest to what our expectations are,” he said.
“We were pretty disappointed with the way we played on the weekend and in certain areas of the game, so it was an honest review, but a fair review.
“We parked that pretty early in the week and we put our focus straight onto West Coast pretty quickly.”
