SOUTH Australia has won division one of the 2016 NAB AFL Under-16 Championships, which was held on the Gold Coast.
They were undefeated across their three matches, beating Western Australia, Vic Metro and Vic Country.
Connor Rozee, from South Australia, was awarded the Kevin Sheehan Medal as the best player in division one.
Tasmania took out the division two title; having defeated Northern Territory, Queensland and NSW/ACT in their three matches.
Tasmanian Tarryn Thomas won the Alan McLean Medal as best player in division two.
The team MVPs were Nick Blakey (NSW/ACT), Michael Mummery (Northern Territory), Bailey Scott (Queensland), Connor Rozee (South Australia), Tarryn Thomas (Tasmania), Jy Caldwell (Vic Country), Rhylee West (Vic Metro) and Ian Hill (Western Australia).
Remarkably, North Melbourne could have priority access to three of the under-16 MVPs. Nick Blakey (NSW, son of John) and Bailey Scott (Qld, son of Robert) are both eligible under the father-son rule while Tarryn Thomas (Tas) is likely to be eligible under North's indigenous and multicultural academy in the state.
