DESPITE being incredibly frustrated by missing several games due to concussion, Angus Brayshaw says the opportunity to work closely with soon-to-be senior coach Simon Goodwin was one of the positives to come from it.

Brayshaw said watching the game closely from Goodwin’s perspective has given him a greater insight into Melbourne’s game plan.

“I’ve watched the game differently with Simon and that was great – rather than just from a spectator’s point of view, where you’re watching goals kicked,” he told Melbourne TV.

“When you watch the game with the coaches, you learn different things and see our game plan in action.

“It shows what actions help us and what doesn’t. You also get to watch the good players closely and how hard they run and what makes them so good.

“It’s been a different experience, but one that has been good and one that I hope to put into my game.”

Brayshaw said he turned his attention to learning

“I was able to expand myself into other areas of the game I wouldn’t have normally been able to if I was training,” he said.

“Although it’s been a frustrating period, I’ve been able to learn other aspects of the game, which I wouldn’t have normally in the weekly routine.

“I’ve got a lot out of it and hopefully I’ll be able to look back on this year and take it into next year and go onto bigger and better things.”
