NATHAN Jones says Neale Daniher is an inspiration and he can’t wait to get behind ‘Big Freeze 2’ at the MCG on Monday.

Although Jones said would love to be close to the pre-match activity on Queen’s Birthday – when a host of celebrities will go down the slippery dip and into icy water – he urged all footy fans to support Daniher, who is fighting MND.

“My grandpa passed away from it and Danners was my first coach and gave me my chance at AFL level, so it’s very close to me,” he said.

“To be a part of it last year was pretty awesome. It’s quite distracting with the slide pre-game, but I’m excited for it come Monday.

“It’s another chance to get out there and hopefully honour Danners, with our performance and hopefully we’ll raise a lot of money for a great cause.”

Jones said Daniher’s situation put football into perspective.

“Neale’s such a terrific ambassador,” he said.

“For him to have the courage to get up in front of everyone and be the face of promoting a cure for MND and raising awareness for it [is just fantastic].

“It’s right in your face and he’s clearly affected by it, but the courage and resilience he has to keep fighting it is pretty amazing to see really.”
