CASEY has smashed Essendon by 86 points at Casey Fields on Saturday night.
The Scorpions 20.9 (129) defeated the Bombers 6.7 (43).
It was Casey’s 12th win of the season from 15 matches, and it remains on top of the VFL ladder.
Right from the start, when forward Liam Hulett kicked the first goal, Casey never looked in trouble, leading at every change.
Jay Kennedy-Harris and Christian Salem, whose seasons have been interrupted by hamstring injuries and illness respectively, had outstanding matches.
Kennedy-Harris booted four goals and had 24 disposals and Salem chipped in with two majors and collected 25 touches.
Utility Alex Neal-Bullen continued his outstanding VFL season, with 36 disposals, including 13 in the first term, and a goal.
Former Melbourne co-captains Jack Grimes (35 disposals and a goal) and Jack Trengove (32) shone yet again.
Ball-winners Viv Michie (31 possessions), Matt Jones (30) and Ben Kennedy (28) also played key roles in the win.
Hulett also continued his impressive first AFL-listed season with three goals.
Defender-turned-forward Dean Terlich and rookie Mitch White kicked a goal each.
