MELBOURNE has landed its second recruit for the Trade and Free Agency Period, securing Dockers midfielder Ed Langdon on Friday morning.
The Demons were involved in a deal with Fremantle where a number of draft picks were exchanged to help the 23-year-old return home to Victoria.
Langdon, who played 68 games across five seasons in the west, finds himself at the Dees along with pick No.26 in the 2019 National Draft and Fremantle’s future fourth round pick.
The trade saw Melbourne part ways with pick No.22 and 79, as well as its future second round selection.
This deal comes on the back of the club’s decision to trade defender Sam Frost to Hawthorn, where a number of draft selections were swapped between the two sides.

Langdon, who averaged 25 disposals across his 22 games this season, was drafted to the Dockers with pick No.54 in the 2014 National Draft, and will be a valuable addition to Melbourne’s midfield alongside free agent Adam Tomlinson.
General Manager of Football Operations Josh Mahoney said Langdon’s ability to play the wing position was the main attraction for the club.
“We have been impressed by Ed’s development particularly over the past two years, where he has really established himself in the competition,” Mahoney told Melbourne Media.
“Ed is a ready-made player who will be a long-term prospect for the Melbourne Football Club, so that’s really exciting for us.
“Our focus during this period has been to bring two targeted players, both with elite endurance, into the club. Ed’s running capacity is in the top echelon of the league and that is evident in games.
“We had nearly 15 players go through the wing position this year, so to be able to have both Adam and Ed join us and play predominately on the wing will give us some good stability in the midfield.”
Melbourne has now brought Langdon, Tomlinson, pick No.26, 50, Hawthorn’s future second round pick and Fremantle’s future fourth round pick into the club during the Trade and Free Agency Period, with the trade deadline closing next Wednesday evening.
