NATHAN Jones says Collingwood’s Taylor Adams’ comments regarding former Melbourne vice-captain Lynden Dunn were simply part of the build-up to Monday’s Queen’s Birthday clash.

Adams said on ABC Radio last Sunday that Dunn, who joined the Magpies at the end of last season, was enjoying his time at Collingwood because he was now at a “real successful club”.

On Tuesday, Bernie Vince spoke at a media conference at AAMI Park and was asked about Adams’ comments. He said: “What is he (Dunn) at a successful club now, is he?”

Speaking at a joint media conference with Collingwood skipper Scott Pendlebury outside the MCG on Friday afternoon, Jones said the banter was “all in good fun”.

“That’s been a little bit of theatre leading into the game and hopefully that boosts the crowd and boosts the interest for the fans. It’s all a bit of fun between us, I would’ve thought,” he said.

“I think, as he mentioned, he was probably caught up in the moment, but probably what he said was quite fair. In response, Bernie was the same, but I don’t think there is too much in it really.

“It’s all a bit of fun and good for the game.”

Pendlebury concurred with Jones and said it was part of the pre-game theatrics.

“As Jonesy said ‘it’s all been a bit of fun’. I don’t think Melbourne or Collingwood is going to go out on the weekend and try any harder because of what’s been said,” he said.

“If it does boost the crowd or add a bit of interest to it, I think it’s great for both sides, because we haven’t played finals in a few years – both teams.

“This game, both sides want to play finals this year, and it’s going to be a finals-like match of football on Monday.”
