ALTHOUGH he has tasted just one defeat against North Melbourne, while in the red and blue colours, Jake Melksham says it’s time to end an awful losing streak against the Kangaroos.
Melbourne has lost its past 17 matches against the Roos, and Melksham said it wasn’t pretty losing to the Kangas by four points in Hobart last year.
“The North Melbourne boys were giving us a fair bit of stick about it,” he told 1116 SEN.
“I certainly know about it now. I think there is a fair bit of bitterness towards North – that they have got the wood over the boys for most of their career.
“It’s a pretty big stat and we’re pretty keen to get rid of it.”
Melksham, now in his second playing season with Melbourne, has played North Melbourne six times in his career (five with Essendon).
But he has only tasted one victory over the Roos – when Essendon defeated North in the opening round of the 2012 season.
Melksham will play his 136th AFL game this weekend.
