DOM Tyson says his team has a great opportunity to get ahead of the ledger against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

But the silky-skilled midfielder said Melbourne wasn’t taking the Saints lightly, as he prepared for the round seven clash.

“We’re sitting three [wins] and three [losses] and it’s still relatively early in the season, but we’ve got a chance to go four [wins] and three [losses] today,” he told Melbourne Media upon arrival at the ground on Sunday.

“We found a little bit of form in the second half last week – bringing all three phases: offense, defence and our contest together, so hopefully we can bring that from the first bounce today.

“We’ve got to be a team that competes and brings intensity at any stadium, anywhere and anytime, so it’s important for us to start well today.”

Tyson said the players had a strong week on the track, after two close games in rounds five and six against Richmond and Essendon respectively.

“The previous week, after the Anzac Day [Eve] game was a high recovery focus, ahead of the Essendon game,” he said.

“This week, we’ve been able to get a main session done and a couple of good weights session, so there is no reason why we can’t produce today.

“The boys are feeling pretty good.”

Tyson, who has played four matches this season, said he was starting to get some continuity in his game.

“I feel like I’m building towards some really good form and I’m happy to be contributing to the team as best as I can,” he said.
