Casey Demons 2.4 (16) defeated by Geelong 8.5 (53).
As expected when playing out at Casey, the wind caused havoc and had a significant impact on the match.
With the breeze clearly favouring one end of the field, the Demons were the first to benefit from its services in the opening term.
But after Casey converted the opening two goals of the match, the Cats responded with eight in a row to claim the four points.
While the sun was out for most of the game, heavy rain absolutely bucketed down for a five-minute period in the final term, where Geelong’s Jordi Ivey mustered a goal and sealed her side’s win.
Maddie Shevlin took full toll of the first quarter wind advantage slotting a great running goal in the opening three minutes to give Casey an important jump.

Casey had done everything right until Geelong’s Mia-Rae Clifford got out the back and kicked her side’s first goal in the dying stages of the first term to cut the quarter-time margin to an underwhelming eight points.
From that point on, it was all Geelong.
The Cats kept their momentum rolling in the first minute of the second quarter as Courtney Stevens snapped through a goal, putting Casey on the back foot.
The ball spent a lot of time between the arcs as the Demons defended into the breeze, but Kate Darby found some space to give Geelong a seven-point lead at half-time.
Clifford did the damage again for the Cats to begin the second half, nailing a crucial goal against the wind, as Geelong added three straight goals to end the Demons hopes.
With a wet ball and a heavy breeze, Casey couldn’t hit the scoreboard in the final term.
Geelong, sitting fourth on the ladder, showed its class as the game wore on, moving the ball well and hitting targets by foot.
Casey will play its final game of the 2018 season next Saturday when it meets the top of the table Magpies at Casey Fields.
