MELBOURNE hosted an international student match day experience before last Saturday’s win over North Melbourne at the MCG.
The event was held at Gosch’s Paddock, featuring various activities.
A 15-minute workshop was held by Melbourne’s staff and its women’s players. They provided an education on the club’s history and the role that football plays in connecting people from all walks of life.
A hands-on session was then held for 45 minutes, where students joined in on leading the basic skills of kicking, marking and handballing.
Male and female students were coached by AFLW players and Melbourne staff, allowing international students the opportunity to learn about the game and share experiences. The group then walked over to the MCG for the match.
The students then sat with Melbourne staff and members of the cheer squad to gain a full footy experience. They also gained a footy education flyer to better understand the game.
And students were also provided with a red and blue flag to immerse themselves in the game.
