MELBOURNE has marked 10 years of its partnership with the City of Casey, with dignitaries of both organisations coming together to celebrate the milestone on Wednesday afternoon.
The event, which was held at the Bunjil Place precinct in Narre Warren, was attended by City of Casey Mayor Cr Amanda Stapledon and representative councillors, as well as Melbourne CEO Gary Pert and General Manager of Football Operations and Casey Josh Mahoney.
Melbourne’s men’s playing group were also in attendance, after an action-packed day of school visits around the Casey region, concluding with the club’s Family Fun Night in the plaza after the event.
To commence proceedings and recognise the momentous occasion, Stapledon presented Pert and Mahoney with a certificate, before co-captain Nathan Jones gifted a framed guernsey to the Council.
The function was also an opportunity to celebrate the successes of recent years.
Since its inception in June 2009, the partnership has seen the delivery of comprehensive community programs in local schools and businesses, increased membership throughout the City of Casey region, significant development of the Casey Fields facilities and a growing relationship with the Casey Demons.
Aiming to jointly promote sporting opportunities and the benefits of an active lifestyle, the 30-year partnership focuses on five key pillars: education, multiculturalism, women, business and grassroots football.
The Melbourne Football Club, the City of Casey and the Casey Demons look forward to building on these pillars as the partnership continues into its next phase.
