First quarter: Collingwood 7.1 (43) to Melbourne 3.1(19)

Collingwoodopened the match with a couple in quick succession, before Jeremy Howe answeredfor the Dees, booting two in a row to peg the margin back to one point.

But when TravisCloke landed his second, it was the first of five in a row from the Pies andthey gained a 30-point lead. 

Jesse Hoganlanded Melbourne’s third just before quarter-time and at the first break, thePies led by 24 points. Cloke had four to his name.

Second quarter: Collingwood 11.3 (69) to Melbourne 9.1(55)

Melbournestarted the second term in blistering form, booting five in a row to put theDemons in front by five points. Nathan Jones and Jeff Garlett booted two eachin this period.

Tim Broomheadkicked Collingwood’s first at the 14-minute mark, but when Bernie Vinceanswered to put the Dees back in front, it was in the midst of a see-sawingperiod. 

But the Pieshit back with three consecutive majors in the latter part of the term to take a14-point lead into half-time.

Third quarter: Collingwood 15.4 (94) to Melbourne 13.4(82)

Collingwoodjumped out to a 25-point lead early in the third term, when it booted the firsttwo goals of the second half. 

But the Demonshit back once again, registering four in a row via Jack Fitzpatrick, JackWatts, Howe and Bernie Vince to level the scores.

Yet when JarrydBlair landed his third and Cloke bombed his sixth major, the Pies led by 12points at three quarter-time.

Final quarter: Collingwood 17.8 (110) d Melbourne 13.7(85)

Goals were hardto come by early in the final term and it wasn’t until Jamie Elliott’s kickedhis third at the 14-minute mark that a major was posted.

And when Clokebooted his seventh three minutes later, the Pies were up by 25 points, whichwas the final margin.

Notsurprisingly, Cloke won the Neale Daniher Trophy for best on ground.
