BROTHERS Corey and Josh Wagner are set to play alongside each other for a fifth time at AFL level this weekend, as the pair have been selected to play for Melbourne in Round 18.
Mitch Hannan and Kyle Dunkley have both been omitted for the clash with West Coast, making room for the Wagner’s on the Demons’ trip to Alice Springs.
The two changes for Sunday’s game at TIO Traeger Park leave Oskar Baker and Tim Smith on the emergency list, after the pair were named on the extended bench on Thursday night.
Smith, who has missed the past two weeks with a calf injury, will return via the VFL on Saturday as he lines up for the Casey Demons at Casey Fields.
At both AFL and VFL level, the Dees will run out in their 2019 Indigenous Guernsey, as Melbourne pull it on for a third time this season.
The jumper was designed by Santa Teresa artist Mary Young, and all match worn guernsey’s will be auctioned after the game.
This week’s battle with the Eagles will be Melbourne’s sixth journey to Central Australia since 2014, with the club’s partner team, the Redtails, playing a curtain-raiser in the lead up to the game.
Check out Melbourne’s final 22 for the Heart of the Nation match, kicking off at 3:20pm AEST on Sunday.
