MADDI Gay has more than found her feet in the red and blue, polling maximum votes against the Giants for the AFL Coaches Associations AFLW Champion Player of the Year award.

The former Blue has been building well since joining Melbourne this season and pulled together a best on ground performance at Blacktown International Sportspark on Sunday.

The 22-year-old has spent more time in the midfield in recent weeks after starting the season as a forward, and her contested game stood out against GWS.

Gay gathered a team-high 19 disposals and slotted a goal to earn her the perfect 10 votes, with both coaches in agreeance of her best afield display.

The coaches also decided Tegan Cunningham was the next best performer, as the tall forward received eight votes for her three-goal outing.

Demon midfielder Karen Paxman added three votes to her season tally, keeping her equal fourth on the leaderboard, while Chantel Emonson polled for the first time in her debut season.

Harriet Cordner and Kate Hore were also recognised for their efforts with two votes each, as the pair continue to perform consistently for Melbourne in 2019.
