Tynan, who was particularly good in the latter part of the match, said he “loved every minute of it” and felt his confidence grow as the match progressed.
“It was great to get out there and have a bit more match sense,” he told melbournefc.com.au.
“Early on I was a bit timid - I didn’t want to do anything wrong, but as the game went on, my confidence grew with the flight of the ball and I attacked it.
“In the end, it was similar to the stuff we’ve been doing, but it was a bit more like a match.”
Tynan’s spoiling, composure with the ball and courage in pack situations were among his traits on show.
But he said he went into the match with a few clear focuses.
“As a backline unit, we had to cover each other,” he said.
“With the fifth or sixth forward going up for the contest, we had to pick which one goes up and which one stays back.
“So the main focus for the backline group today was about communication and helping each other out. It reinforced a few of the structures that we’ve done in match practice.”
But the likeable country kid from Garfield is not surprisingly keeping it simple and all in his stride.
“I’m just taking it week-by-week and trying to do as much as I can,” he said.
“A couple of my mates came down to watch - they got a bit of time off work - and of course the family, so it was good to get a bit of support.”
