MELBOURNE has landed a second major sponsor with Russian IT company Kaspersky Lab signing a three-year deal to back the club.

It comes just a week after the club landed tyre company Hankook. The two companies will be joint major sponsors with the Kaspersky logo on the back of the Melbourne jumper and Hankook on front.

The two companies will pump a combined $5 million into the club’s coffers over the next three years.

The Kaspersky sponsorship also includes signage, coaches’ sponsorship, website advertising, corporate hospitality and other match-day benefits.

Kaspersky is a global IT security company that recently established a local office in the Docklands precinct.

Melbourne CEO Cameron Schwab said Kaspersky was the fastest growing internet security company in the world, No. 1 in China, top two in the US market, and expected to be No. 1 in Australia as well.

Harry Cheung, Kaspersky’s Asia Pacific managing director said the deal was the first major sports team sponsorship the company had entered into. It reflected a strong commitment to growing the business in Australia.

Kaspersky Lab was founded in Moscow in 1997 by Eugene Kaspersky and its products protect against IT security threats, including viruses, spyware, crimeware, hackers, phishing, and spam.
