The Casey Demons are proud to announce that three of our standout players—Riley Bonner, Mitch Hardie, and Deakyn Smith—have been named in the 43-player 2025 Smithy's VFL State Team squad. This selection is in preparation for the upcoming clash against the SANFL's West End State Team during the AFL's Gather Round.

Riley Bonner, a seasoned defender with 112 AFL games under his belt from his tenure at Port Adelaide and St Kilda, joined the Demons this season. His exceptional kicking ability and football intelligence have been instrumental in bolstering our backline.

Mitch Hardie, a dynamic midfielder, has consistently showcased his prowess in the center, contributing significantly to the team's performance this season.

Deakyn Smith, the Casey Demons skipper, is known for his versatility and agility, has been a key player in both defensive and midfield roles, demonstrating remarkable adaptability on the field.

The Smithy's VFL State Team will be led by head coach Zane Littlejohn, who continues in the role after steering the team in its return to representative football last year.

The 2025 AAMI State Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, at Tanunda Recreation Park in the Barossa. The match will commence at 2:45 pm local time (3:15 pm AEST) and will be broadcast live on 7mate in Victoria and 7plus Sport nationally, with streaming available at AFL.com.au.

Congratulations to Riley, Mitch, and Deakyn on their well-deserved selections. The entire Casey Demons community stands behind you as you prepare to represent the 'Big V' with pride and determination.
