MELBOURNE has completed a second pick swap of the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period, securing pick No.9 and a future third-round selection from Essendon.

The Demons parted ways with a future first-round selection in the deal with the Bombers on Monday, as well as picks 28, 40, 46, 54 and 65.

The move was made possible by an earlier trade with the Crows in which the club traded its future third-round selection for pick 46.

Melbourne now holds pick No.5, 9 and 49 in this year’s AFL Draft, which is set to take place next month.

“Having two Top 10 selections in this year’s AFL Draft is a terrific outcome,” Melbourne AFL List Manager Tim Lamb said.

“This will allow us to bring in some elite talent, while remaining open to the possibilities that arise with holding these two selections.”

The AFL Trade Period concludes on Wednesday evening.
