IN POSITIVE news for the Dees, midfielder Liv Purcell has returned to the club following surgery.
Purcell spent some time away from Melbourne after undergoing surgery on facial fractures but re-joined the group last week.
“Liv’s doing really well,” Sam Batterton, the club’s AFLW High Performance Manager, said.
“It’s been great to have Liv back around the team, she’s got great footy knowledge and an understanding of the game.
“She’s not doing too much yet, but will look to begin a structured program towards the back of this week."

It was confirmed last Friday that Lauren Pearce would require surgery on her wrist, after sustaining a scaphoid fracture.
“She had surgery yesterday, which went really well,” Batterton said.
“She’ll get back into the club later this week or early next week and then we’ll begin her rehab from that injury."
Jemma Rigoni has made some exciting progression after working through a groin injury for much of pre-season.
“Jemma’s turned a corner,” Batterton said.
“She’s progressed into some high intensity change of direction, high-speed running and will look to integrate into training in the next couple weeks.
“She still has a few hurdles to get over but she’s on the home stretch now.”
Saraid Taylor, who has been battling a calf injury in recent weeks, continues to work through her rehab program.
“Saraid had a bit of a setback last week,” Batterton said.
“She’ll look to integrate into running at the backend of this week. It’s been a tricky one for Saraid, but she’s done really well through this period.”
