MELBOURNE will unveil a new name on Saturday, with Alyssia Pisano to make her debut against Brisbane at Casey Fields.

The exciting small forward earns her opportunity after impressing through pre-season, having joined the Demons with pick No.5 in last year’s draft.

Pisano, who hails from Eastern Ranges, is set to bring plenty of spark to the Dees’ forward line mix, with her classy skills and elite goal sense a standout.

“We’re really excited to welcome Alyssia into the team for her first game in the red and blue,” Head of Women’s Football Operations Jessie Mulholland said.

“We’ve been impressed by her contributions since arriving in December, and look forward to seeing what she can bring tomorrow at our home of Casey Fields.”

Making way for Pisano is Lauren Pearce, who has been forced to the sidelines with a scaphoid fracture.

Ruck Pearce sustained the injury during the Demons’ final training session of the week, with scans later confirming the extent of the damage.

“Unfortunately, we will be without Lauren for an extended period, due to an injury she sustained in a spoiling incident on Thursday,” Mulholland said.

“Lauren will require surgery and at this stage, we expect her to be available to play again in six weeks.

“It’s really unfortunate news for Lauren, but we know she will attack her rehab with the utmost professionalism, and do whatever she can to help and support her teammates from the sidelines over the coming weeks.”

The Demons will be hoping to continue their strong start to the AFLW season when they take on the Lions at 11.05am on Saturday morning.
