MELBOURNE’S Josh Schache will be available for selection this week after being sidelined with a foot injury this past month.
The club’s High-Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith provided an update on the forward on Tuesday afternoon.
“Josh has had a strong training block the last few weeks,” Griffith told Melbourne Media.
“He’ll train fully with the main group on Wednesday to be available for selection this week.”
Much-loved defender Jake Lever won’t be far off following Schache’s footsteps, moving in a positive direction through his rehab of a knee injury.
“Jake is returning to training this week and our plan is that he’ll return to full training next week,” Griffith said.
“He’ll then look to be available for selection in Round 16.”
Jake Melksham’s long road to return from an ACL injury might be in the not-so-distant future with the forward continuing to fully train with main playing group.
“Jake is currently training with the main group,” Griffith said.
“He’ll likely have a return to play in the coming weeks.”
Star Demon Christian Petracca is continuing to rest at home following surgery on his spleen, an injury that was sustained during Round 13.
“Christian is recovering at home following his procedure,” Griffith said.
“He has a follow-up with a specialist this week to continue to refine his plan to return him to full health.
“We’ll continue to support Christian on his journey back to full health.”
Marty Hore (calf), Lachie Hunter (calf) and Charlie Spargo (Achilles) are all continuing to work through their respective rehab schedules.
