Jake Bowey suffered a broken collarbone against Sydney.
Melbourne’s Jake Bowey will miss approximately eight weeks after scans confirmed he sustained a broken collarbone during the Demons’ Opening Round match against Sydney on Thursday night.
The injury, which requires surgery, occurred during the third quarter when Bowey courageously spoiled the ball.
Alan Richardson, General Manager of AFL Football Performance, provided an update on the 21-year-old.
“Jake had some scans upon returning to Melbourne yesterday afternoon, and these results have confirmed he has suffered a broken collarbone,” Richardson told Melbourne Media.
“Jake will undergo surgery in the coming days, and we anticipate that he will be sidelined for approximately eight weeks.
“He has become an important member of our team, and we're confident that he will approach his recovery with the same level of commitment that he brings to the game.”
Bowey had gathered 14 disposals and three marks in the Opening Round defeat before he sustained the injury.
