IN A CELEBRATION of the Melbourne Football Club’s Irish history, the Jim Stynes Foundation (JSF) will be holding a special inaugural event on the eve of St Patrick’s Day.

Held at former Demon David Neitz’s brand new venue Brewmanity, JSF will be hosting a long lunch to raise valuable funds for the causes that Stynes was most passionate about.

Ahead of St Patrick Day and Melbourne’s Round 1 clash against the Bulldogs, the event will celebrate all things Ireland with Irish music, dancers, food and beverages.

Chair of the JSF Board, diehard Demon Russel Howcroft said he was thrilled to be a part of something that continued the Stynes’ legacy.

“Having known Jim, having been on the Melbourne Football Club Board, while Jim was president, for me, on a personal level, it’s to honour Jim and it’s an attempt to do more of the work that he started,” Howcroft told Melbourne Media.

“We’re all very keen to focus that energy that we saw him have, on this project.

“So, what we thought we’d do with this event, is celebrate Irishness.

“We’re going to have comedians, Irish dancing, an Irish band, Guinness and David Neitz’s Brewmanity beer, so it’s pretty exciting.”

In partnership with the Melbourne Football Club, JSF continues the work of the late Stynes, a past player, Brownlow Medallist, President, and legend of the club, who tragically passed away in 2012.

JSF strives to have impact in three core areas: youth leadership, youth mental health and youth programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Like Stynes, the Foundation believes in the boundless potential of young individuals, and their abilities to overcome challenges and make a positive difference in the world.
