COACH Neil Craig has urged the red and blue faithful to come out and support the Demons in their final home match for the season against Fremantle at the MCG this Sunday.
The Demons have not played at the ‘G since round 15, when they went down to the Sydney Swans by 31 points in Craig’s third match as coach.
With Melbourne having played Geelong at Simonds Stadium in round 16, Brisbane Lions at TIO Stadium in round 17, North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium in round 18, Greater Western Sydney at Skoda Stadium in round 19 and the Gold Coast Suns at Metricon Stadium in round 20, it’s been more than a month since the red and blue has played at the home of football.
And with Melbourne playing the Adelaide Crows at AAMI Stadium in round 22 and the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium in round 23, Craig said it was important the Demons had a strong showing this round.
“Going into the game against Freo at the MCG, we are about to play a legitimate, serious, hard-nosed footy club,” he told The Craig Report on DeeTV.
“It’ll be a great experience for our playing group, in terms of being able to handle their pressure, in terms of our ball movement and in terms of our resilience and in terms of our perseverance skills.
“We’re really looking forward to our last game at the MCG this year against a really good footy side, so hopefully as many people as possible can get along to see our last game [at the MCG for 2013].”
