MITCH Clark has a presence. His four goals after half-time dragged the Demons back from a hopeless position at quarter-time to within range.

When he kicked his third goal for the quarter midway through the third, the Demons had a sniff and the crowd of 64,250 was roaring as the margin was just 24 points.

He stood tall in many marking contests, taking four contested marks for the game, and was throwing himself fearlessly at every aerial contest. This is no small feat given he was knocked out after landing from a high-flying effort in round four against the Bulldogs.

He was also hitting the ball hard at centre bounces reminding Demons' fans of former captain David Neitz's ability to lift his team while playing as a forward.

While Clark has presence on the field, he remains very humble off it, more comfortable talking team than individual.

He sums up his role in the same way, regardless of when the question is put to him.

"Having a crack at the contest, that is all I need to do. If you can't mark it bring it to ground," Clark said.

He is appreciating the support of big bodies such as Colin Garland and Jared Rivers who have spent time forward in recent weeks, but he is all about team success.

His main concern post-match was the team's ordinary start rather than his third quarter: "We did not have enough guys joining in at the start of the game and at the end of the day that is what cost us the game," Clark said.

Clark has now kicked 25 goals for the season to take his career tally to 86 from 92 matches. His previous best is 27 goals, kicked in 2011.
