NEW Demon Koltyn Tholstrup is excited to get to work in Melbourne, with the West Australian ready to make the move east and start his AFL career.
Tholstrup, who is from Esperance in Western Australia, will make the trip over to Melbourne in the next few days to settle into his new home.
Tholstrup expressed the raw emotions and excitement of joining a football club like Melbourne when he recently spoke on the radio.
“I’m pretty overwhelmed, it hasn’t really sunk in as of yet,” said Tholstrup.
“When I get over there It might get a bit more real.
“I’m pretty grateful and it was great to have all my family around to celebrate.”
Although invited to the draft, Tholstrup decided to stay home and spend the special evening with his closest family and friends.
“It meant a lot more to be able to have my grandparents there, who’re in their 90’s,” said Koltyn.
“It’s a long way to from Esperance over to Melbourne and we could have a lot more [friends and family] here in Perth.
“There’s no regrets at all, I loved having everyone there.”
Making the big move and being the only team to visit Tholstrup in person, Melbourne were in pole-position to take the exciting youngster.
With a strong list and a large array of young talent breaking through the ranks, Tholstrup is excited with what the Dees have to offer.
“They’re such a great club with such a great list," said Tholstrup.
“I have some messages already from some of the boys and some of the names, there are so many greats to learn off.
“I’m pretty excited to get involved, very exciting time and I can’t wait to get over there.”
With the trip from Esperance to Melbourne being a big one, the move will be a nervous, but exciting opportunity for Tholstrup.
“I’ve been over to Melbourne for football really, for national or state games.” Said Tholstrup.
“But it’s similar to when I go to Perth it’s a culture shock, but you sort of just get used to it.
“It won’t be too bad I don’t think, but I’m excited.”
