CASEY Demons have appointed Mark Long to the position of manager of Casey VFL and facilities.
Long, who previously worked at Melbourne, Carlton, Box Hill (as general manager), will fill the role vacated by Matthew Young, who recently stepped down from his position of VFL/VFLW football operations manager.
General manager of football operations Josh Mahoney said Long was an important addition for Casey Demons.
“We have been able to build a strong football program at Casey Demons and look forward to improving it further with the appointment of Mark Long,” he told melbournefc.com.au.
“Casey Fields is becoming a football hub for AFL in the south-east, with opportunities in junior football, the Melbourne Academy and senior VFL, for both boys and girls.
“We look forward to creating more opportunities for the community to get involved with our programs.”
Casey Demons president David Dillon said Long would make a valuable contribution to the club.
“It’s with great pleasure in announcing in conjunction with the Melbourne Football Club that Mr Mark Long has been appointed to the position of manager – Casey VFL and facilities at the Casey Demons,” he said.
“There was a large number of applicants for the position and a rigorous selection process was undertaken before the decision was made.
“Mark was the outstanding candidate and he brings a wide range of relevant experience and knowledge and extensive background to the job. Mark is due to start shortly and we look forward to working with him.”
