MELBOURNE will continue to monitor Angus Brayshaw after the Demon suffered a concussion during Thursday night’s qualifying final.
Melbourne’s High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith said the club had contacted concussion experts to provide further support in the management of Brayshaw’s injury.
“He’s integrated into the concussion protocols, and we’ve sought expert opinions to help support Angus…we’re continuing to take that day by day,” Griffith told Melbourne Media.
“There’s no set timeframe on when Angus will return this year, it’s based on how he progresses through the protocol and also on the advice from the experts around his concussion management.”
While fans noticed the absence of Clayton Oliver and Max Gawn from the team’s training on Sunday, Griffith said both Demons were fit for Friday’s semi-final.
“Clayton and Max didn’t train on Sunday as per their usual management,” Griffith said.
“But they’ve both trained fully today and are ready to go for Friday night.”
In positive news for Ben Brown, the tall forward returned to full training with the main group on Tuesday.
“Ben has been dealing with some ongoing knee soreness,” Griffith said.
“Fortunately for Ben, he trained fully today and will continue to train fully with the squad to be available for AFL selection.”
James Harmes was on a modified training schedule on Tuesday as he works through hamstring soreness.
“[James] had some hamstring soreness at the end of a match-simulation,” Griffith said.
“He’s progressed really well this week and will continue to progress day by day to be available for AFL selection.”
