MELBOURNE’S star midfielder Paxy will be eyeing a return to play this weekend.
Paxy didn’t make the trip up to Canberra after it was was confirmed that she had a minor injury to her quad.
Sam Batterton, AFLW Head of High-Performance, provided an update on the midfielder.
“She sustained a really low-grade quad strain,” Batterton told Melbourne Media.
“We’re hoping she’ll be able to tick the boxes she needs to be back either this week or next week.”
Megan Fitzsimon was also ruled out during Round 2 after sustaining a minor back injury.
“Fitzy hurt her back in a really innocuous incident at home,” Batterton said.
“She’ll get moving again and train this week, so hopefully she’s available for either Round 3 or 4.”
Sammie Johnson will also spend some time sidelined.
"Sammie did a low-grade calf strain and will miss at least this weekend's action," Batterton said.
