THE MELBOURNE Football Club travelled to Darwin last week to take on Port Adelaide and some of their bigger names, such as Cornes, Boak, Cassisi and Pearce.

A couple of days beforehand, 24 keen Melbourne supporters made their way to Bynoe Harbour, 130 kms west of Darwin, where they took on some of its better known names, including Barramundi, Spanish Mackerel , Blue Salmon and the Giant Trevally.

On both fronts, the Melbourne Football Club won.

What the fishing party lacked in fishing ability, it made up for in teamwork, camaraderie, spirit and determination. The group was ably lead by 300 game Club champion, David Neitz, who, as a fisherman, makes a wonderful full forward.

With everyone enjoying a full day’s estuary and deep sea fishing at the magnificent Crab Claw Resort, no-one was left wanting after three great nights, which was topped off with a win at TIO Stadium on the Saturday night.

Thanks go to everyone who took part in the trip. The Melbourne Football Club would like to acknowledge the great enthusiasm and participation shown by everyone on the trip, and we look forward to doing it all again next year.
