FORMER Demon star Jeff Farmer says he’s proud the club has launched a Reconciliation Action Plan.
Farmer, a much-loved Melbourne favourite, who played in the club’s 2000 Grand Final, was at Melbourne’s 23-point win over Port Adelaide at the MCG on Saturday. He said he was pleased to the see the club produce a RAP.
“It’s a great concept,” he told Melbourne TV.
“With [former teammate and now Indigenous project officer] Matt Whelan part of this great concept with the football club, we’ve got the opportunity now to be a success – in the short term, as well as the long term.
“It’s great for all the players – present and past to get behind it as well.”
Farmer, who is now living back in Victoria with his family, said it was great keeping a close eye on the red and blue.
“They’ve been good so far [this year],” he said.
“I’ve been able to get to a couple of games this year.
“The whole family are Melbourne supporters as well.”
Farmer, who has three sons, said it would be a dream to see at least one of them don the Melbourne jumper one day.
“Well you never know. Hopefully … so fingers crossed one the boys get a chance to play for this great football club,” he said.
