MELBOURNE is set for its Friday night clash against Carlton with Lachie Hunter, Joel Smith and Adam Tomlinson coming into the starting side.
Joel Smith has been called up to the final 22 following consistent displays in the VFL. The tall utility has kicked 11 goals throughout his six games for the Casey Demons and will add further depth to the Melbourne line-up.
Likewise, Adam Tomlinson comes into the team after leading Casey’s backline through six games, currently averaging 25 disposals a match.
Lachie Hunter has also been welcomed back following a week on the sidelines due to a one-match suspension.
Tom McDonald will spend time on the sidelines after undergoing surgery earlier today, with GM AFL Football Performance Alan Richardson providing an update on the forward.
“Tom underwent minor surgery this afternoon following some lingering ankle soreness,” Richardson told Melbourne Media.
“Tom is the ultimate professional, and we have full confidence in his ability to bounce back in the second half of the season.
“We will have a better understanding on what Tom’s return to play schedule looks like next week.”
Michael Hibberd will also miss the game with the club taking a cautious approach and managing the Demon.
James Jordon and James Harmes have been omitted, with Harmes joining Ben Brown, Daniel Turner and Taj Woewodin on the team’s emergency list.
The Demons will host the Blues at the MCG for what is set to be a tough battle under Friday night lights, both teams looking to return to the winners’ list.
Tickets to tomorrow night’s match can be found here, with the first bounce scheduled for 7:50pm (AEST).
