INS – Hibberd, Spargo
OUTS – Turner (omitted), Jordon (omitted), Harmes (Round 8 sub, omitted)
MELBOURNE will welcome back Michael Hibberd and Charlie Spargo into its starting side this weekend.
The duo joins the final 22 ahead of the team’s Round 9 clash against Hawthorn on Saturday.
Following two weeks on the sidelines due to concussion, Spargo returned to play via the VFL last weekend and was impressive in his 22-disposal display.
Hibberd, who was managed by the club in Round 8, will also assimilate back into the Dees’ line-up after a solid week on the training track.
James Harmes, James Jordon and Daniel Turner have been omitted from the Saturday side, with Jordon and Turner joining Bailey Laurie and Tom McDonald on this week’s emergency list.
Melbourne will face Hawthorn on Saturday in the annual Emergency Services Match that looks to honour the work of Victoria’s emergency workers.
The game will also mark a special milestone for defender Steven May, who will celebrate his 200th AFL game. The respected defender will add to his impressive career to date, having earned dual All-Australian honours and a premiership medallion since becoming a Demon.
Dees members wanting to get down to the ‘G will have the opportunity to redeem general admission access to the match, with Round 9 allocated as a member replacement game.
