MELBOURNE'S Next Generation Academy has enjoyed its first taste of footy this year, competing in the U15 Eastern Conference.
The conference was spread across two days, with the Demons' Girls team kicking things off on Wednesday 12 April at Ford Park in Ivanhoe.
Melbourne faced Hawthorn, Richmond and Essendon in three matches across the day, with the Dees triumphant in their game against the Bombers.
The Boys side got amongst the footy action on Wednesday 19 April and competed in two games against Hawthorn and Richmond.
The club's Academy program was relaunched last year with a new structure, creating greater opportunities for young athletes from the Casey and Alice Springs region.
The program centres around U16 multicultural and Indigenous players from the two zones, while continuing to welcome Father Son and Daughter prospects.
The two teams are led by Melbourne AFLW star Tyla Hanks, who will remain at the helm of the sides for the duration of the year.
