The Demons have named Macdonald on the interchange bench, along with versatile trio Cale Morton, Lynden Dunn and James Sellar.
Forward Ricky Petterd, yet-to-debut rookie Tom Couch and young tall Jack Fitzpatrick have been named as emergencies.
Macdonald played in Melbourne’s first two matches of the season, but was an emergency against Richmond last round.
As confirmed on Thursday, Brent Moloney has returned from a groin injury.
But the Demons have lost co-captain Jack Grimes through suspension, and dropped big man Stef Martin.
