COACH Paul Roos says Chris Dawes did everything asked of him at Melbourne’s training session on Thursday and will play against Hawthorn at the MCG on Saturday night.
Dawes has been battling a calf injury in recent weeks, having missed Melbourne’s loss against Fremantle at the MCG in round five.
He also reinjured it during last Saturday night’s loss to the Swans at the MCG.
But Roos said the key forward was ready to go against the Hawks, after completing the session.
“He did all of the training and came off with about 10 minutes to go, which is what we expected him to do,” he said on Roos’ Views.
Midfielder Dom Tyson, who recently hurt his knee, was also named against the Hawks.
Roos said the classy Demon was right to play.
“He tweaked it a bit with his kicking, but he’s fine,” he said.
Meanwhile, Roos said the inclusions for Melbourne’s round seven clash featured some players who had performed strongly for Casey in recent weeks.
“We just want to play guys that are in good form whether that be in the seniors or the seconds,” he said.
